Abdul Latif Jameel has launched an unprecedented advertising campaign to warn Toyota owners about using a specific imitation oil filter that has come into the Saudi market recently.

According to a company spokesperson this particular type of oil filter is made of inferior materials which will not withstand the wear and tear of driving under extreme conditions. The filtration elements within these oil filters are of poor quality and clog quickly. When the elements clog, the bypass valve remains in a constant open position and as the pressure in the filter builds, the valve can disengage completely from its bracket and actually close the opening for the oil to get into the engine. In the worst cases, lack of lubricating oil in the engine can cause it to seize completely.

In addition, if the vehicle damage is related to these imitation filters, the vehicle repairs, which could be very costly, are not covered under the manufacturer's warranty.

The problem for customers is that it is difficult to tell this imitation filter from the genuine Toyota oil filter and sometimes there is no difference in the price between this imitation and the genuine oil filter.

In this campaign, ALJ is educating their guests and general public about these counterfeit oil filters and advising them to have their oil filter installed at an authorized dealer to protect their vehicles in the best way possible.

ALJ is also working with various government officials and industry bodies to stop the future import of these dangerous oil filters into the Kingdom and confiscate those that are already present in the market.
